When Flint and Tinder Design Director Nick Kemp set out to create the Vintage Sateen Capsule, he didn’t start with a mood board. He went straight to archival 1940s U.S. Army uniforms. What came next was a three-piece collection of fatigue shirts, pants, and shorts made from reverse sateen cotton-the same fabric the U.S. Army adopted over herringbone twill when soldiers needed something more durable and comfortable. The reverse sateen is soft against the skin, yet weather-resistant on the outside with a matte finish. We call it our faithful nod to the uniforms that helped define Americana style, updated for a modern wardrobe and built to only get better with age.
